Possible Characters: The possibilities are literally endless. Characters from any television show, movie, book, video game, whatever can end up here. The character must be fictional, however. This means you can't play Thomas Dekker, but you can play any of his characters.
Play-Bys: Absolutely must be a live PB. This means if you play an animated, anime or video game character, you must use an actual person for the play-by. When selecting a play-by for the above mentioned fandoms or from a book, please be realistic. Make sure it's one that could really portray the character. PBs may be used for multiple characters in different fandoms, but not within the same fandom (unless the same pb would be used i.e. twins, uncanny resemblances, in canon). This also means just because Rory Gilmore is taken, any of Alexis Bledel's characters can also be played using the same PB. Also, due to liability reasons, Suicide Girls/God Girls are not allowed to be used.
Alternate Universes/Timelines: Alternate versions of characters may not be played, only the canon version. This is a recently changed rule only because we decided it was too difficult to bring in characters from different universes, even ones shown in canon. The only exception to this rule is when there are different canons (books vs movies/tv/etc).
Point in canon: The game is set in 2010, but that doesn't mean you have to bring your character out of that year. Pick a point in (pre-canon, canon or post-canon) to bring your character from and stick to it (so if I were to bring Rory Gilmore in during her first year at Chilton, she doesn't know Jess or Logan from canon. She would have to meet them in the game if those roles are filled. I could not change it for her to know them. Deceased characters may come from pre-canon or canon up to a point before their death.
Likewise, two characters who know one another may be brought out of canon at two different times. The one brought out at a later point would know more than the person brought out at an earlier point. Say I brought Veronica in after season two, but we get a post season 3 Logan. Logan would be aware of everything that happened during season three, but Veronica wouldn't. It can be stated, but don't get mad if she's confused.
Play out of your fandom: The point in a multi-fandom game is to branch out. Don't just stick to characters from within your own fandom, meet others. Make new friendships or even start new relationships for your characters. It is strongly advised not to wait for your favorite ship's other half to come in (unless you plan it with someone and know it will happen). It may never happen and if it does, they may not be interested in shipping with your character. You will intentionally be assigned roommates outside of your canon as an excuse to associate with them, but most will require you to branch out.
Shipping: That being said, shipping outside of your fandom is welcome. Keep it realistic, though. If it would be unlikely for your character to date another character, even in a crossover, don't do it. If your characters have real chemistry, then great! Don't make the game all about shipping, though. Make friends, enemies, try to find ways out of Sunnydale. Remember, there is also dark plot in play and if you want your character involved in that, do let us know.
Abilities Abilities are allowed in game and will not be stripped, but keep in mind that if people see someone using abilities, considering the nature of the game, people will likely assume they work for the Master.
Alternate Formats As a lot of books and video games have been made into movies and tv shows, we will allow different formats to be played but only if it makes sense: (For example, The Vampire Diaries: Elena Gilbert is the blonde, book version. Bonnie could be from the show, though she might be aware of a reality Elena isn't or vice versa. Katherine would have to be the book version simply because she has to look like Elena. Damon and Stefan both must be from the book because there's too much history with both Katherine and Elena, not to mention each other, that changes between the formats.)
Activity Two journal entries per month are required. Threading/Logging is required but at this point I am not mandating a minimum. If the need arises, I will add one in but I'm trying to keep the rules lax and accommodating for the time being. If you have read these rules, please put the word Hellmouth in your application.
Character Limit The character limit is what you can handle. Per fandom, only two characters per player, but fandoms are limitless. If your activity is dwindling, however, it's unlikely new characters will be accepted. You are allowed to ask us to give you a personal character limit. If you know you will pick up characters beyond what you can handle, you can let us know and ask us not to let you pick up more than a certain number. If you do this, however, we will not go back on it.
Fictional? Your characters are not allowed to tell another character they are fictional. This comes up in a lot of panfandom games and I feel it's a little weird, so I would like for it to not happen here.
Mod Posts Mod posts are made because there is something we would like to convey to the players. Because of this, we want to be sure everyone has read it. Replies to mod posts are required. If you have something to say, great say it. If you don't, a simple "read it" would suffice, but don't make a habit of just saying "read it" or something along those lines to all mod posts.
